Tsu Koon, get the Federal funds!
Press Statement by Penang DAP Chairman and MP for Tanjong on Friday, 15 December 2005.
Get the Federal funds to implement reliable integrated public transport, Chief Minister told.
The Penang DAP expresses regret that Penangites are forced to put up with many more years of unreliable public transport and traffic congestion because of the failure of Penang Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon to secure Federal funding.
We want to ask, “How many more years must we bear with the problem?
We are astonished by the lack of immediate plans by the State government to alleviate the worsening traffic congestion and the poor public transport on the island.
The performance of State government in providing interpreter public transportation system has been a big flop. There has been more talking than real action.
It is unbelievable that Dr Koh Tsu Koon has failed to secure Federal funds even with the overwhelming victories the past three general elections.
What is the use of getting a strong mandate when the State government could not deliver on its promises?”
The Penang DAP and Penangites want Dr Koh Tsu Koon to go all out to resolve that the island’s traffic congestion problem before it becomes critical.

To think that a Chinese Chief Minister can set a good example to lead Penang to progress, what do we have after Dr Koh took over? Penang has stopped progressing and even Malacca has catched up with it.
Penangites are very tired of Dr Koh’s excuses of not getting funds from the Federal Government.
This is the price paid by the Gerakan Party for joining BN. And this is the price paid by Penangites for voting them.

Penangites think that a Chinese Chief Minister will bring progress to the state.
Now they know their thinking is so wrong.
Penangites are fed up with Dr Koh and they want a new Chief Minister who can deliver.
This is the price paid by Gerakan for joining the BN and Penangites pay the price for voting Gerakan.

It’s definitely a failure for Tsu Koon as the public transport system is daily deteriorated. Senior citizens in places like Green Lane, Tg Bungah, Bayan Lepas and other places have no other means of transport to go to town as no buses or if have it’s like 2 to 3 hours - like going to KL?
A case of Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) and JPJ not listening to the Penang State Government and bring shame to PM’s own state.
Dumping mini buses from KL to Penang??No wonder some called Penang Darul Sampah! We have carzy and reckless mini bus drivers driving recklessly and endangering the lives of the passengers and other road users.Pg State government should go and learn from S’pore govt on the public transportation system. I believe they did so but cannot be implemented as it needs some cronies to set up a consortium of buses and taxis.
Airport limousines monopolised the taxis and charges so high much so higher than the Air Asia fare Kl to Penang?? Meter taxies cannot pick up passenges but only dropping. CVLB not taking any actions against the Airport limousines for raising the fares without their approval. Pg taxis refused to use meters- Govt cannot do anything and the blame is on CVLB for the ding dong.
Pg Port S/B failed to get federal fund to reconstruct the collapse terminal since 1988 ferry tragedy. Another total failure!
Where the so called LRT or monorail? A shame to Penang as Penang suppose to get the 1st LRT than KL. No wonder all good brains flowing to S’pore and other places!!
Jam here and there Sat and Sunday on the island but to resolve this they have alternative plans - PORR, BORR and Jelutong expressway but with the expense of the people of Penang - toll collection, why can’t you get the funds from Federal Govt. Pg one of the main GDP contributors in the past and it’s time the Federal Govt to help Pg.
Well, the case of too much mandate given to Penang BN in the last General Election(GE)! BN said if Penang people voted for opposition parties, no development for Penang, so Penang people see yourself - CVLB and JPJ is deaf even the Penang CM appealed to them. BN putting fear and tricked the people of Penang to vote for them in last GE.
Pak Lah, where are you to resolve this public transport system? Your kakitangans in Federal Ministries is not respecting you.
So voters of Penang - “JANGAN MUDAH LUPA!” in the next General Election to deny the BN 2/3 majority and do not be hoodwinked by their fears and bully tactics again.

Once again, we see in our newspaper each day the failure of Penang State Gove to solve the public transport woes that had been haunting Penang for decades. Initially on Aprli 1st, the new bus routes and system are supposed to solve the endless problem faced by the people of Penang using the “bas mini”. Dr Teng Hock Nan as the State Traffic Committee Chairman had again and again failed to deliver as promised. I think most of the people is already fed-up with this guy..
Not sure when he can solve this but he kept giving lame excuses on solving this despite this problem been plaguing Penang citizens for so long.
Can someone out there ask Dr Teng to step down ?
