Chow Kon Yeow: 曹观友

I received an SMS early this morning from Dr L. He said, “Good news YB. I just called my student, who works as a manager in Batang Berjuntai, she said 80 percent of the workers in her factory will vote PKR.”

I do not know whether this is the mood pervalent among the multi-ethnic factory work force in Ijok.If it is, it will spell trouble for the BN.

The other night, the owner of a restaurant in Batang Berjuntai said he would be campaigning along this line, “Vote the Opposition to shake up the BN. We will be able to get more things come the GE because BN will pour more monies and projects win back the seat.”

Whatever it is, this is a closely fought by-election.

I was shocked to read Information Minister Zam could be so uncultured to attack the BBC for giving air space to Anwar.

Zam is totally wrong when he attacked Anwar as a rejected politician.

The fact is Anwar has never been rejected by the voters. He was elected by Permatang Pauh voters from 1982 until he was sacked in 1998. He may have been rejected by Dr mahathir but never the people.

On the contrary, Zam was not elected the first time when he entered Parliament. He was appointed Senator and given a government post. Only in the last GE that he was elected by the people.

Wow, never know Zam is so generous and sympathetic to the DAP. He took to task BBC for highlighting Anwar.

He asked, “Why not highlight the DAP? They have won more seats and Kit Siang is the Opposition Leader.”

But we know who exactly Zam is. Just look at how the government-owned media treat the opposition parties and their MPs.

See “Parlimen Hari Ini” programme yourself and you will know.

Last night, I joined Kit Siang and few other MPs (Kulasegaran, Kui Lun, Hock Seng, Po Kuan and Perak Assemblyman Thomas Su) at a ceramah organized by PKR at the Batang Berjuntai town.

PKR president Datin Seri Wan Azizah was making her appeal to the voters to vote Tan Sri Khalid. Suddenly some police personnel moved onto the makeshift stage to stop Datin Seri from speaking.

A Chinese police officer then took over the mike and tried to disperse the crowd. But before he could proceed, the sound system was turned off by a PKR worker.

Kui Lun rushed up the stage and put up a fight (verbal only) with the police.

Kit Siang, Syed Husin Ali and Jeffrey Kitigan then joined in and questioned the police on why they were disrupting the ceramah. (more…)

Tuan Pengerusi [Datuk Dr. Yusof bin Yacob]: Yang Berhormat bagi Tanjong.
5.26 ptg.
Tuan Chow Kon Yeow [Tanjong]: Terima kasih Tuan Pengerusi. Butiran P.24, di
mana RM50 juta dikehendaki untuk membiayai Dana Pembangunan Automotif. Pertamanya
(more…)

How would Penang CM Koh Tsu Koon look if he goes bald? Maybe more gaya, maybe not. But that is not what we are interested.
Today’s newspapers reported that Tsu Koon was willing to shave his head bald if there is an individual who would want to donate RM 2 million for the Phor Tay Secondary School relocation fund-raising.
I was shocked to read this news in the evening edition last night. I was at a clan association dinner and I spoke against it during my speech.
Tsu Koon joined politics 26 years ago as a Chinese educationist with the mission “to join BN, to rectify BN from within” especially in education policies.
Tsu Koon should not go bald as his botak head would then become a symbol of his failure to rectify the BN after 26 years. Many would want the government to finance all schools including vernacular schools. But sad to say, the Chinese community is made to pay a second income tax (or education tax) to finance Chinese education.
Tsu Koon and many other BN Chinese leaders have by now given up their struggle for equal and fair treatment to the vernacular school system in this country.
Tsu Koon’s bald head would symbolize his failure as a politician, CM and Gerakan incoming President in championing Chinese education.
Tsu Koon, please use your head first before going bald.

Karpal shocked Parliament again this morning.

He challenged the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to come to Parliament to deny that the latter is involved in the murder of Mongolian, Altantuya!

Most of us were shocked; even BN backbenchers do not know how to react.

But before Karpal could continue, the Deputy Speaker Datuk Yusof directed Karpal to end his speech as Karpal had used up the 10 minutes allocated.

Earlier Karpal read out a translation of a report of a Mongolian newspaper with a shocking title: “Malaysian authorities hire murderer to kill Altantuya’s father”.

It came to our knowledge that Mongolian MPs have sent an appeal letter to Malaysian MPs dated 4 December 2006. However we were not given a copy of the appeal till today.

Karpal has taken up the matter and copies of the appeal letter were made available today.

Parliament 12: 26.48

Last Thursday I read a report in the NST about two Malaysian still stuck in Saudi Arabia and sympathised with their predicaments. I was emotionally moved when I read the comment of Francis Ng Wai Kong, ” Sometimes, I wonder if anybody is bothered.”
I decided to move an emergency motion in Parliament to highlight their predicaments. I want to let them know, we care. However, the Speaker rejected the motion on the grounds that the Foreign Ministry was looking into the matter and the case is before the judiciary of Saudi Arabia.
I hope Francis Ng and Victor Hoo Kim Swee would be reunited with their families in Johore.
Below is the notice to move the emergency motion. (more…)
