A businessman’s dream of building a mansion overlooking the serene Teluk Bahang upon his retirement is shattered as a telecommunications tower is being built on his property.
The tower, abut 80 per cent complete, is said to be built by PDC Telecommunications Services Sdn Bhd , a subsidiary of Penang Development Corporation (PDC).
Ooi Ching Ee, 40, who inherited the piece of land from his late father, is angry that the PDC had built the tower on his land without getting prior permission from him.
It was his childhood dream to have a house surrounded by durian trees in his family property but the presence of the tower has now made it impossible for Ooi.
I visited the site along with Ooi and found that the 60-metre high tower was almost completed.
Why and how PDC could build the tower without getting the owner’s consent is very perplexing indeed?
PDC ought to explain how the tower could end up on Ooi’s plot of land.
Didn’t they verify with the State Land Office first as to whom the plot of land belonged to?
