After Ijok and Machap, good to have one in Penang too
This morning I was greeted by Yin Fan’s column on the Northern edition page of the Sin Chew Daily. Today’s column is titled, “A Letter to Members of Parliament”.
I will try to give a rough translation and I hope Yin Fan (Sin Chew’s Penang reporter) will correct me if necessary.
“To Honourable MPs,
After looking at what happened in the by-elections in Machap and Ijok, an ordinary folk like me in far away Penang felt very envy.
Why not? The only 9623 registered voters in Machap received so much over the nine days of campaigning. Problems that were there for decades were resolved over night. Finally I am able to see how efficient the Malaysian government is.
In the Ijok by-election concluded last week, although it was closely contested, the BN achieved victory in the end. What is important the government also poured in millions to this constituency of only 12272 voters, a place which I have never heard of before the by-election.
Don’t say I am vicious. Actually most Penangites are having the same feeling as me; we all hope there will be a by-election in Penang. (more…)
