Malaysia tiap-tiap hari pun bocor otak!!!
“Malaysia faces brain leaks every day” sums up the message of the following e-mail from a young man to the DAP.
“I’m a formal student from a famous high school located in Bukit Mertajam..
Each year, my school has ‘produced’ a lot of excellent students and
intellectuals such as doctor, engineer, lawyer, etc, to the community and
nations. This year also same, my school has achieved a satisfying results in
both SPM and STPM. But sadly, among those ‘good’ students, more than half
wil persue their studies at private college, such as Inti, Nilai. After 1
year of study at those college, they will further their study at
outstation if their financial situation allow them to do so. It’s not only loss of
human resourse, it also caused a huge loss in term of money. Let’s say, if
a student spends RM200k to go australia, or canada, or else where. Imagine
how much it wil be if it is 1000 students a year?
When the Stpm result announced, yes my school did it again. 6
students get 5As and 1 of them has awarded among the best candidates of nations. 38
students gained 4As. Most of them have done the same thing after received
their results. Guess what? yup, they apply for Singapore’s universities.
Months later, i guess about 15 peoples get the offer from Singapore. I
think all of them will accept the offer, no doubt. What is so surprising for
those small amount of 15 pupils?? All of them are top students in my school!!
According to the Singapore government’s policy, they will be bond for 3
years. As they recieve an attracting salary and a stable permanent job in
singapore, few of them will come back develope their career in Malaysia.
This is what my friends told me. Why this situation is repeating every
year but none of our government or ministers can solve this problem. Sigh. What
is the main cause of this situation, you may try to find out. There are
many benefits to develope in singapore and many disadvantages in Malaysia.
Malaysia has achieved a high amount of international trading months
ago. But they are losing the intellectual human resourse which is the main
asset to develope country. We export the intellectuals to singapore,
meanwhile import building workers from indonesia. What a loss profit’s
business done by government. please look it serious”

Sorry to resurrect this topic, dated 2007. I’m in my 40’s and this “SINDROM BOCOR OTAK” was prevalent even from the 1980’s.
BUT post-political tsunami may be a time to reflect on what’s in store for the future. SERIOUSLY, from the bickering ongoing since 8 MAR 2008, it looks like the ONLY WAY FORWARD is for a COMPLETE EARTHQUAKE to envelop the WHOLE NATION… ALL UNDER the PAKATAN RAKYAT !! Then at least the Education Ministry will be under PR control.
