This morning a bill was tabled for first reading to enact an act to provide for legal recognition of electronic messages in dealings between the Government and the public, the use of the electronic messages to fulfill legal requirements and to enable and facilitate the dealings through the use of electronic means.

It deals with the affirmation of the legal effect, validity or enforceability of an electronic message.

It also contains provisions relating to the removal of legal obstacles to electronic dealings.
